About the magic of photography

I started dealing with photography since the beginning of my high school (1970). My mother’s colleague had shown me back than how to expose and develop a photo, how it appears with the help of some liquid and then how it is being soaked into the other liquid when the process ends. For me it was a pure magic which motivated me to ask my parents to buy me a camera and pursue my new passion. Then I used a small pantry in my flat and converted it into my photo laboratory. Even now I remember the smell of chemicals and the excitement I felt when I was developed my first films and made my first photos.

Military service and my son’s early childhood were the reason why I made a longer break from photography. Chemicals and their vapors are not good when they are close to a child, and my desire for any kind of action has been lost. Of course, I didn’t stop following events in the world of photography, I continued to read photography literature and to visit photo exhibitions in my hometown.

During the 1990s computers slowly began to occupy our lives. My colleague from work bought his first digital camera and persuated me to start dealing with photography actively again (2002). Being motivated by much easier process of creating digital photography I bought my first digital camera, and magic happened again – my old hobby was reactivated.

I’m very happy that I managed to transmit my passion for photography to my son and daughter.
